Abstract

Crosstalk in OFDM systems is shown experimentally to be dominated by one of three different mechanisms (of which one is described for the first time) depending on the transmitted power level and the use of cascaded EDFAs. Each mechanism dominating requires different design considerations in terms of channel spacing and the optimal spectral allocation of channels and local oscillators.
