Abstract

In new benzoxazine research, it is a great challenge to strike a balance between excellent thermal stability and good processability. The traditional method is mainly trial-and-error, which is time-consuming and inefficient. High-throughput design and screening are required for material genetic engineering, which has several shortcomings in new benzoxazine development. Herein, a new method characterized by the design of specific structures and screening, which we refer to as the “gold panning”, is proposed. Using this method, we designed a series of new benzoxazines with high thermal stability and ease of processing, and we verified the results experimentally. Furthermore, THPE-m-n, a new benzoxazine with excellent thermal stability and processability, was obtained using this method. The THPE-m-n has a melting point of 133 °C, a viscosity of 169 pa·s at 140 °C, and the Td5 of poly(THPE-m-n) is 521 °C. This is a new kind of benzoxazine with medium viscosity and excellent thermal stability, demonstrating the effectiveness of the method. This method can be used in conjunction with material genetic engineering methods in the field of benzoxazine development to considerably improve the research efficiency of new benzoxazines.
