Abstract
ABSTRACTA design of a tunable metamaterial cell operating at 85 GHz based on split ring resonators and thin wires is presented. A tunability of the transmission characteristic is assured by a nematic liquid crystal layer. Numerical simulations performed with the finite element method for different orientations of liquid crystal molecules allowed to determine the tunablity range for the resonance frequency and the real part of the effective refractive index. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
