Abstract

This paper presents the design of a multiplierless wideband compensator for the modified cosine-based comb decimator from literature. Since this decimator improves alias rejection only in odd folding bands, we introduced a new design parameter to control the aliasing rejection in even folding bands. However, this increases the passband droop which is higher than in the corresponding comb filter. As result, the compensator designed for comb filters cannot be directly used. We proposed a compensator design using particle swarm optimization (PSO). The compensated decimator is compared with the decimators from the literature regarding passband droop, aliasing rejection, and the complexity expressed in the number of adders per output sample (APOS).
