Abstract

By analyzing the measurement principle of the ultrasonic impulse method, a kind of multi-functional ultrasonic imaging logging tool was designed and the implementation of its measurement technique was given. It can conduct borehole surface imaging with the imaging mode in high resolution in opened hole. It can also conduct casing inspection and cement bonding evaluation with the full-wave mode in cased-hole. The proposed tool was tested in the field. It shows that this tool can evaluate the geologic feature's information, such as fracture, vug and bedding structure in open hole. The casing thickness imaging, inner and outer diameter imaging and cement impedance imaging also can be measured in cased-hole.
