Abstract

Combing the stepped thin plate in flexural vibration with the longitudinal vibration transducer into a compound of radiator, it has a numerous applications in air in high power ultrasonic field due to its extensive radiated surface and high radiated efficiency. However, design of this kind of radiator appears very complicated for a number of special functions and equations to be solved in its frequency equation. Taking the plate in flexural vibration with two steps at a free edge as an example, an algorithm for design of this kind of radiator by numerical calculation and program is proposed under given conditions of operating frequency, base thickness and material. It is shown that the tested results are in good agreement with the theoretical ones. The study provides a new method for design of the multi-step plate in flexural vibration.
