Abstract

This letter proposes collimator designs composed of dual dielectric materials for microwave beam splitting and focusing using the phase-field design method. Polypropylene (PP) and paraffin were selected as dielectric materials considering the mechanical durability and manufacturing feasibility for an experimental verification. We fabricated designed collimators using a three-dimensional printing device and performed experimental verifications using a two-dimensional electric field scanner. It is confirmed that measurement results fairly agree with simulation results. Improvement of mechanical durability obtained from dual dielectric structures is also verified through numerical analysis.
