Abstract

The main body of thoughts forming the backbone of the exposition “Design of Mathematical Modelling Courses for Fluid Flow in Engineering Edu¬cation” stem from and directed to two kinds of people who can benefit from such an exposition. These two groups are the users of ready made codes or computer programmes and those who compose or prepare such codes. Following is an in¬troduction explaining in essence the exposition and various concepts and activi-ties related to mathematical modelling. The second section is the main section divided in subsections and attempts to lay down the sequences and the logic in mathematical modelling of fluid flow. The hierarchical approach may be visual¬ised as an attempt to classify mathematical modelling and the its teaching, though it appears to be impractical to give a classification (a kind of branch tree). The second section discusses at the same time what may be thought at various levels of engineering education in terms of mathematical modelling of fluid flow, rather briefly at graduate level and above in broad terms, but more in detail at under¬graduate level. The exposition ends with a brief conclusion.
