Abstract

A novel low-profile loop-loaded dipole antenna with artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) reflector is proposed in this paper. Through the loop-loaded structure, the low frequency band is greatly extended. The ±90° reflection phase bandwidth of the AMC surface is 1.9 - 3.1 GHz while the 0° reflection phase center frequency is 2.4 GHz. Due to the employment of the 14 × 14 AMC reflector, the height of proposed antenna with AMC can be reduced and the gain is increased by 1.67 dB. The impedance bandwidth of 135% for S 11 ≤ -10 dB from 0.88 to 4.13 GHz is achieved.
