Abstract

Abstract The aim of this paper is to study the performance of an amplitude compensated matched filter as an optimization of the inverse filter. Analysis by digital simulation of signal-to-noise ratio, discrimination and optical efficiency has been carried out using both binary and grey-level images in absence of noise. Subsequently, the scenes were immersed in real background. Amplitude compensated matched filter behaviour has been compared with matched filter, phase-only filter and inverse filter, showing its capabilities and limitations.
