Abstract
The design of improved fault location system and its experimental test system is presented in this paper. The fault location system is based on traveling waves and contains several innovative algorithms, considering the main influential factors such as the uncertainty of wave speed and the accuracy of transmission line length. Besides, the design of experimental system for testing the location precision is presented. This system mainly includes amplifier circuit, high speed D/A and host computer. The test has been conducted in this paper and the experimental results show that this system has improved the accuracy and reliability of fault location results significantly.
