Abstract

This paper investigates the design of Synchronous Reluctance Machines for high efficiency and improved performance. An analytical model of the machine is developed, and the machine performance parameters are derived. A natural flux path in the rotor space is investigated through simulations, and an optimum barrier model is defined so that it can yield high performance. A multi-barrier model is developed for high performance and simulated using advanced optimization techniques and finite element analysis.
