Abstract

The small weather radar based on magnetron transmitter is used as an areal precipitation gauge, which plays an important role in the weather forecast and the weather modification operation command system. The transmitter is crucial part of radar, and the high voltage and filament power supply source is necessary component of transmitter. This paper describes a design of 800V high voltage DC power source and 6.3V DC filament power source, which powered by 48V DC power source. The two power supplies use similar principles and are composed of a main converter and a protection monitoring circuit. The difference is that the final stage circuit implements different functions. This paper gives the overall circuit structure, and analyzes the working principle of each part of the circuit in detail. Experiments show that this power supply has good driving performance and high efficiency for 10KW magnetron, and has played an outstanding role in the application of WXR-MD_10 small weather radar.
