Abstract

This paper discusses the design of helmet-mounted conformal patch antenna, operating at two different frequencies, i.e., 2.45 and 4.85 GHz, which can be used for the communication purpose in military applications. This antenna is designed with substrate FR-4 of dielectric constant 4.3, thermal conductivity of 0.3 W/K/m, and having thickness of 1.60 mm. The proposed design has been done on CST studio suite software. Also, two pin diodes are connected in patch. For both diodes in ON the achieved S11 for the frequency 2.45 GHz is about −34.334 dB, having bandwidth of 0.08 GHz and for the frequency 4.85 GHz achieved S11 is −24.334 dB and having bandwidth of 0.22 GHz. The simulated results are compared and analyzed with non-conformal patch antenna and also, specific absorption rate for head has been calculated for the proposed design.
