Abstract
An adaptive fuzzy logic controller is presented for implementing a fuzzy dead-zone inverse which is used to cancel out the dead-zone effect. For this purpose, a sensitivity function is defined using a normalised state distance from the origin and applied to updating scaling factors. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by applying it to an inverted pendulum system with unknown or time-varying dead-zones.
