Abstract

This paper addresses the analysis and design of fuzzy control systems. The fuzzy systems are represented by a family of local state space models with aggregation. The controller is designed by considering each local state feedback controller and a compensating controller. The compensating controller is based on the well-known variable structure control theory. It is shown that this controller guarantees global stability of the closed-loop fuzzy system. The issues of a state observer for the fuzzy system is also addressed. A numerical example and an example of nonlinear system control are given for demonstration of the performance of the method.
