Abstract

The recent rapid development of digital UWB wireless communications has led to the need for ultra-high rate A/D converters (ADCs). In this paper, the design algorithms for digital UWB receiver based on A/D conversion in the frequency domain have been presented, which can obviously reduce the ADCs speed requirements compared with conventional time-domain ADC. Important issues in the frequency domain A/D converters, such as quantization noise, optimal bit allocation, are discussed in detail. Frequency domain frame synchronization, channel estimation and demodulation algorithms are also proposed.
