Abstract

This paper presents the design of electrochemical sensor for determining the peak current of ions in the solution considered. The three planar electrodes namely working electrode, counter electrode and reference electrode on PET substrate are considered for designing the proposed electrochemical sensor. The peak current is determined for various geometries of working electrodes from simulation and the peak current equation is formulated and validated for the same. This paper presents simulation values of cyclic voltammetry plots of designed planar electrodes using COMSOL Multiphysics, a commercial Finite Element Analysis Package. Electro-analysis physics in COMSOL is used to determine the peak current of different geometries of working electrodes. The Fibonocci geometry with highest perimeter is found to have the highest peak current of all other geometries.
