Abstract

A dual-band MIMO antenna design for 5G application is proposed which consists of 2-symmetrical monopole antenna elements. The resonant frequency of monopole antenna is tunable. Grounded branches and defected ground structure (DGS) are used in design to reduce mutual coupling of lower band by modifying the current distribution on ground plane. The proposed design with 2:1 VSWR on Rogers RO4003C substrate has dimension of 92×38.6×1.524 mm <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</sup> . The design covers 2.35- 2.57 GHz and 4.9-5.1 GHz frequency bands and isolation in bands is more than 10 dB. The gain of MIMO antenna at 2.46 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequencies are 4.24 dBi and 6.35 dBi respectively.
