Abstract

The use of the improved table look up residue number system (RNS) and dynamic distributed arithmetic algorithm (DDAA) in modern telecommunication and multimedia applications is becoming more and more important because it allows interesting advantages in terms of area, power consumption and speed.. This paper presents a general conversion procedure based on a {2n-1,2n, 2n+1} moduli set. Based on the improved table look up RNS and DAA algorithm, an architecture which efficiently implements the digital fir filter is synthesized using Xilinx VirtexE. lt is observed that up to 82.85% reduction in number of slices, up to 100% reduction in number of flip flops and up to 87.21% reduction in number of look up tables (LUT) is achieved. The speed of the filter is improved by 30.98%.
