Abstract

Complementary pair has ideal aperiodic auto-correlation property and then may reduce the peak-to-mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems to 3dB. However, for some OFDM systems requiring vacant direct current (DC) subcarrier, the ideal aperiodic auto-correlation property of complementary pair will be damaged, which leads to the increased PMEPR. In this paper, the modified sequences are designed on the basis of zero-inserting operation and combination operation to original complementary pair, respectively. The proposed methods may maintain ideal aperiodic auto-correlation property of original complementary pair even if it is employed in OFDM systems with vacant DC subcarrier. Both theoretical analyses and simulation results show the availability of the presented algorithms, and the expectable PMEPR-3dB property may be obtained.
