Abstract

A compact band-notched ultra-wideband antenna is proposed in this paper. To achieve its band-notched characteristic, a quarter-wavelength tuning stub embedded in the circular ring monopole is employed. Its impedance bandwidth, radiation patterns and gain are studied by simulating. The simulated results show that it has a good VSWR performance in the bandwidth 2.9GHz to 12GHz, in which a frequency-notched bandwidth from 5GHz to 6GHz is achieved. Good radiation pattern over the entire frequency band is also achieved.
