Abstract

A fully printable chipless RFID tag on a 90-?m-thin Taconic TF290 laminate is presented. The tag consists of two crosspolarized ultrawideband (UWB) antennas and a multiresonating circuit. The data encoding is performed in the multiresonating circuit, which is comprised of multiple stopband spiral resonators. The resonators are optimized to operate on flexible laminate using two optimization techniques. Since TF290 has similar characteristics to thin polymer laminates, the design can easily be transferred to plastic and paper, which are suitable for mass deployment for low-cost items in trillions.
