Abstract
This paper provides the framework for ant based routing protocol for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) that is inspired from the ant colonies life. The work in this paper is based on analysis of AntHocNet routing algorithm and Ant Colony Optimization Routing (ACOR) algorithm. The network topology in MANETs regularly changes with time. MANETs are known for temporary transmission links. Hence, the efficiency of Routing algorithm influences the overall network performance to a large extent. The main objective of this paper is to design an ant based routing algorithm for Ad hoc network. The work is completed partially and still new additions are required to make it a complete routing protocol.
