Abstract
Preparation of an optical lens by wetting a curved surface of a deformable solid with a liquid is described. A channel of circular/elliptical cross-section embedded inside an elastomeric layer is used as the curved surface; its wetting reduces interfacial tension. Consequently the thin skin of the channel bulges out, which results in an aspherical lens. A lens filter is generated by using liquid of the desired color inside the channel.
