Abstract

A unique air jet erosion test setup was designed and fabricated to evaluate erosion profiles in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) honeycomb modules, also specific erosion characteristics and properties were studied. Specifications and dimensions of the test rig were optimized based on the results obtained from computational fluid dynamic analysis for the particular condition, which has uniform distribution of mixture of air and abrasives throughout the cross section of honeycomb sample. The honeycomb samples were extruded to specific dimensions and it was tested in the developed experimental setup. As a result of which, the air jet erosion property is evaluated, which helps to decide and justify the quality of honeycomb catalyst samples in terms of erosion and to predict the life of the catalyst.
