Abstract

In this paper, an extension of adaptive linearizing control laws of single input-single output (SISO) stirred bioreactors to the multi input-multi output (MIMO) case is proposed. More precisely, the problem of controlling m ( > 1) reactant concentrations with m control inputs is considered. This is illustrated by three process examples (activated sludge process, yeast growth, anaerobic digestion). The performance of the multivariable adaptive non-linear controller is further illustrated by simulation using the first two fermentation examples.
