Abstract

A W-band (88-98GHz) V-shaped meander-line for traveling wave tube (TWT) is analyzed in this paper. The U-shaped microstrip with conformal dielectric substrate is adopted to avoid charge hitting the dielectric substrate to a certain extent and accumulating. Furthermore, the microstrip slow wave structure (SWS) with conformal dielectric substrate has the higher interaction impedance than the SWS without it. The simulation results show that the proposed structure can provide an achievable gain up to 23.2dB and a maximum output power of 20.77W at 93GHz. The 3dB bandwidth is 7GHz from 89GHz to 96GHz.
