Abstract

A two-stage rectifier for microwave power transfer (MPT) is proposed to achieve high conversion efficiency over a wide dynamic input power range. According to the input power level, a single rectifier cell or both the two rectifier cells have been selected to operate at low-power path and high-power path. By employing the two operating modes, the proposed rectifier is able to achieve power conversion efficiency (PCE) within a wide input range. A prototype of 2.4 GHz rectifier is designed and implemented. The simulation results show that the radio frequency (RF)-DC conversion efficiency maintains over 50% within the input power range of 2. 4-22.2dBm. The maximum PCE reaches 68.8%. Compared to the single-stage rectifier, the input power range with high PCE is greatly improved.
