Abstract

A novel single-layer dual-band reflectarray design with a wide frequency ratio is proposed using a set of Phoenix elements. Full phase coverage can be achieved at both frequency bands. Furthermore, physical interferences or electric mutual coupling between elements, which often occurs in conventional dual-band reflectarrays, can be completely avoided by the proposed design method. As an example, a 10/20 GHz dual-band reflectarray is designed and numerically verified using full-wave simulation. Aperture efficiency of 45% at 10 GHz and 42% at 20 GHz, respectively, is successfully achieved by the design.
