Abstract

In this work we present a millimeter wave orthomode transducer (OMT) based on a simple structure. The OMT, with a square waveguide input (5.69 × 5.69 mm2) and two single-mode waveguide outputs: a standard WR 22 waveguide (5.69×2.845 mm2), has no iris, no pins and no coupling structure. From 34 to 40.5 GHz the measured transmission is ≈-2 dB, the reflection coefficient of each port is less than −10 dB, the cross polarization is less than −29 dB for both polarizations. Analysis in this article will bring some methods to improve the OMT performance based on our structure.
