Abstract

In this research work a very simple circular polarized (CP) monopole antenna has been designed for terahertz (THz) communication applications. This antenna will be used for fast communication in wireless local area network (WLAN) and for (WiMAX) bands. Circular polarization is achieved to connect and rotate U-shape rod of monopole antenna up to 45° with the horizontal axis of the microstrip line. Lower THz bands of the proposed broad band antenna are achieved to connect second small U-shape radiator at the end of the first U-shape radiator. A simple Microstrip feeding line with waveguide port is used for best matching. Simulated antenna covers three bands at −10 dB return loss, having impedance bandwidth of 44 GHz (0.116-0.16 THz), 94 GHz (0.184-0.278 THz) and 250 GHz (0.317-0.567 THz) respectively. A maximum of 5.25 dBi gain is achieved at 0.5 THz operating frequency. A maximum of 39% axial ratio bandwidth is achieved at 3 dB. Left hand circular polarization (LHCP) is achieved in this work.
