Abstract

In this paper, we first analyze characteristics of ship radiated noise and its modeling method. Then, the composition of all kinds of noise and its impact on ship recognition are studied and analyzed in detail individually, for the three major components of ship radiation noise: mechanical noise, propeller noise and hydrodynamic noise. According to the composition analysis and Characteristics Summary of ship radiated noise, a simple modeling method of ship radiated noise is proposed in this paper. The simulation results show that the simplified ship radiated noise model fit the characteristics of ship radiated noise and has good application value. At the same time, we make use of a simple ship radiated noise model for high-order time-frequency analysis, Then Winger higher order spectrum is applying to extract the low frequency line spectrum components of ship radiated noise. The simulation results show that Winger's higher order spectrum can extract the low frequency line spectrum components effectively, and it will not produce false line spectrum components, but there is a limitation that the line spectrum amplitude cant be too low. This has established application value and guiding significance in classification and recognition of ships.
