Abstract

This paper presents the design of a reconfigurable wideband low noise amplifier with switchable dual bands. The LNA also achieves a continuously tunable operational bandwidth in 0.2 - 1.5GHz and 2.2GHz - 3.2GHz. It implements a switching and a tuning circuit in the input and output stage of the LNA, respectively. Reconfiguration between bands is achieved through a PIN diode in input matching network and continuous tunability in each band is achieved using a varactor diode in the output matching network. The designed LNA is fabricated as microwave integrated circuit (MIC) on FR-4 substrate. It achieves a high measured wideband gain of 9 - 14.5 dB in the lower band and around 8 dB in the upper band. Additionally, The circuit achieves a low NF of 1.2 - 2 dB in lower band and around 2 dB in the upper band. The LNA also achieves a linear and stable operation in all operation modes.
