Abstract

As a gas storage method with high efficiency, easy operation and economical rationality, CNG gas storage wells are widely used in fuel supply facilities such as gas stations and gas companies. However, gas storage wells are susceptible to the alternating loads of groundwater and high-pressure natural gas in the wells, which is likely to cause damage defects, leading to major casualties and property losses. Therefore, a portable ultrasonic testing system for CNG gas storage wells is proposed in this paper. The method of central reflection rotation is used in the system to measure the metal thickness of the wall of gas storage wells, which combines the water layer coupling in wells and the principle of ultrasonic detection. Computerized management of the whole process of gas storage well detection is realized. All the links of detection could be managed independently and various management data of gas storage wells is also detected in real time. In the end, the validation experiment of the system is carried out in the gas storage wells. The results show that this system related in this paper can automatically detect the metal thickness of the gas storage pipe wall, and solve the problems of gas storage leakage detection and deep well inspection.
