Abstract
A novel circular patch with defective ground structure (DGS) is proposed in this work. The proposed work consists of a circular shaped patch with circular shaped slot and meander line slot in the partial ground plane. The antenna structure is designed on a FR4 substrate with the dimensions of 50x50x1.6mm 3 . The simulation results show a bandwidth of 9.25 GHz (5.82 GHz – 15.07 GHz). Thus the proposed antenna system exhibits low profile and less weight which makes them more flexible and portable to use them in Ultra Wide Band (UWB) applications. It offers a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of around 1.03 for the entire bandwidth. The antenna provides an appropriate gain of 4.8 dB and directivity of 5.2 dB. Ansys HFSS-19 is used for simulating the proposed antenna.
