Abstract

In this paper, a nonlinear excitation controller is designed for a synchronous generator. Since disturbances acting on power systems are of random nature such systems have to be treated as stochastic systems. To take advantage of well developed linear control techniques, the concept of exact stochastic feedback linearization is used. Simulation results of a single machine infinite-bus power system indicate that in presence of major disturbances, the proposed controller outperforms existing linear and nonlinear controllers.
