Abstract

The design of a multivariable controller for an automotive gas turbine by the use of a frequency domain design method is presented. The turbine considered is of the two shaft variety, with a set of variable nozzles fitted upstream of the power turbine and a heat exchanger fitted in the exhaust system. A locally linearized transfer function matrix model of the gas turbine is determined at a particular operating condition, and the required controller design is carried out by applying Rosenbrock's inverse Nyquist array design method to the linearized model.
