Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, the characteristics of a modified meander‐type antenna for broadband impedance bandwidth are investigated in the 5‐GHz band. The design is based on a modified meander‐line width in a finite‐sized ground with coaxial SMA feeding. The modified meander‐type microstrip patch antenna is able to achieve an impedance bandwidth of about 1.0 GHz or 17.5% for a VSWR of less than 2. Radiation patterns are broad across the pass band. The gain is measured 7.3–9.5 dBi. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 40: 181–183, 2004; Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com).
