Abstract

This paper presents the design of a compact miniaturized indented T shaped Monopole antenna for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) applications covering the 5.15-5.35 GHz band. The proposed antenna is a center offset indented T with a compact size of 13 mm by 20 mm and 0.8 mm thick, low profile enough for integration with Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC). Design and simulation was carried out using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) from Ansoft, a commercial software and the results obtained shows a return loss (RL) better than 10dB at 41dB within the impedance bandwidth of 4.83-5.70 GHz at a central frequency of 5.2 GHz with a stable omnidirectional radiation pattern with a total Gain of 2.5 dBi which is suitable for compact space WLAN applications.
