Abstract

The focus of this design study is the incorporation of reliable, proven laser engineering technology into a state-of-the-art medical laser system. The basis for the system is a 150 W CW Nd:YAG laser. The laser rod is optically water cooled and pumped by a single krypton arc flashlamp. The project goal was to design and construct a system to deliver the laser output for use in various medical applications in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. The focus of this design study is the incorporation of reliable, proven laser engineering technology into a state-of-the-art medical laser system.
