Abstract

The aim of this paper is to describe the behavior of a particular actuator. The movement is obtained by a helical displacement of a rotor inside a stator so that the rotor movement combines a translation and a rotation. Such an engine could replace several mechanical parts needed to have the same kind of movement, or just a translation movement. An example of use is the automatic gearbox of cars. The prototype of the actuator is described with its electronic system of control and the digital control. We have developed analog loops for currents and digital feedback for the position control. This will be replaced by a direct position control without a sensor. The whole structure of the motor has been simulated by using a three-dimension software of electromagnetic effects.
