Abstract

A high power gyrotron traveling-wave amplifier operating in the low-loss TE01 mode has been designed. The amplifier will be driven by a 70-kV, 10-A electron beam with a pitch angle (vperp/v//)of unity and velocity spread of 3~5% generated by a double-anode magnetron injection gun (MIG).The amplifier is predicted by nonlinear theory simulation code to generated 180 kW at 35 GHz with 25 efficiency, 48-dB saturated gain and 1.8 GHz bandwidth.
