Abstract

A high-performance optical system to reduce measuring errors and uncertainty in angular encoders is presented. We propose a reading optical head, which exploits a lens system to improve the speed of the beam crossing the photodetector and a quadrant photodiode to perform a zero-crossover acquisition of the timing information.
