Abstract

In this paper, we design a new FLC (Fuzzy Logic Control) using a single fuzzy input variable. Since most of conventional FLCs commonly use error and its derivative as fuzzy input variables. Then the fuzzy rule table is established on a two-dimensional space of error and its derivative. From properties of the table, a new variable called a signed distance is derived, which is used as a sole fuzzy input variable. Thus, the number of total rules is greatly reduced. And almost equal control performances are obtained. In order to compare the control performances of above cases, we will perform computer simulations using a nonlinear plant.
