Abstract

An Ultra-Wideband microstrip antenna, which is a low profile configuration antenna consisting of varied radiating patch with an open slot and a stair step, microstrip feed line engulfed in T-shaped slots mounted on a ground plane, suitable for medical applications is designed and developed in this paper. The performance capabilities of the antenna are proved ideal within a range of 3.0611.4 GHz frequency. An Omni-directional radiating pattern with high gain satisfies the requirements of UWB (3.110.6 GHz) applications. Typical frequency range for medical applications is 2.45 GHz. This antenna systems has 18x30x0.8 mm3 dimensions. Having simulated and tested in HFSS, the FR-4 substrate as dielectric has performed best for the said dimensions and configurations.
