Abstract

This paper presents Defected Ground Structure (DGS) based dual-band Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) system for low-power applications. The proposed DGS based antenna for the dual-band WPT system is 34x20 mm2 in size with a hexagonal DGS etched on its ground plane. The obtained measurement results show 74% efficiency for data transmission at 17.5mm distance when developed on Rogers 5880 substrate and 58% efficiency for ISM band. Extensive simulation and optimizations have been carried out using CAD tools. Its obvious that there is a slight anomaly in measurements due to in-house fabrication and other human errors.
