Design of a compact CPW-Fed monopole antenna with multiple band-notched characteristics for UWB applications

Abstract

This paper presents a compact coplanar waveguide fed monopole antenna with four notched frequency bands. The proposed antenna yields an impedance bandwidth of 2.5–11 GHz except for four notched bands of 3.7–4.2 GHz for the C-band satellite communications, 5.15–5.825 GHz for the WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networks), 7.25–7.75 GHz for the downlink of X-band satellite communication applications, and 8.025–8.45 GHz for ITU service. The proposed antenna occupies a very small size of 19.7×23.5 mm2, which makes it a competitive candidate for miniaturize applications.
