Abstract

An analytical method for the design of the cam contour of a combined cam-linakge mechanism with an oscillating roller follower to trace precisely a predetermined locus is introduced. It is shown that the composition of the mechanism during kinematic analysis is profitably viewed differently from that during design. Furthermore, as the assembly mode of linkage mechanisms may change during design, a key feature of this paper is the explanation of how to deal with the change in assembly mode of Assur groups during design of such combined mechanisms.
