Abstract

This paper introduces a novel Logarithmic Chaotic Map (LCM) that is inspired by the well known quadratic map. The chaotic dynamic of the proposed map LCM is thoroughly investigated and its chaotic properties are found to be superior in comparison with the existing maps in the literature. In addition, a new encryption algorithm is proposed that is based on LCM. The chaotic output generated from LCM passed through all 15 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) statistical tests thus confirming its randomness. The proposed encryption algorithm is best suited for encrypting numeric sensor data values preferably for IoT applications and has been found to be highly resilient to security attacks.
